Ally Binger

Terms Served: Beginning July 2019-

Other Organizations You Are Involved In:
I am involved in SDSU State-A-Thon, SDSU LeadState, SDSU Trio Program, and am a member of Tulare United Church. I also plan to join the SDSU Agronomy Club in the fall of 2019.

Educational Background:
I received my high school diploma at Hitchcock-Tulare High School. I am currently a sophomore at South Dakota State University majoring in Agronomy and minoring in Soil Science.

Type of Farming/Ranching Operation:
My parents are Brett and Susan Binger. I have three older siblings, McKinzie, Austin, and Lexi. On our farm, we have a corn and soybean rotation, along with alfalfa and cereal grains for feed. We also run a commercial Cow/Calf/Finish operation.

Soil Health Practices Utilized:
On our farm/ranch near Tulare, South Dakota, we practice no-till on all of our farm ground. We also plant cover crops whenever possible and integrate rotational grazing within our cover crop system. We plan to continue the use of cover crops and eventually expand that part of our operation.

My goal for The Future of Soil Health in South Dakota is for more producers to understand the importance of utilizing the Five Principles of Soil Health on their farms and ranches. Over time, if soil health becomes the first priority, farmers will realize what it takes for their crops reach their full potential.
