I married my husband, Colin Geppert, in July of 2020! Colin and I recently purchased a small crop field back where Colin grew up, and we have a few Angus cows that we run as well. I always have had a passion for this industry which has influenced my career path as I have had great internships and now full-time experience in the ag field. I genuinely enjoy being able to work to help benefit producer’s operations.
I currently live in Brookings and work at FieldReveal as an account manager in Watertown, SD. Before moving back to South Dakota, I was a precision ag consultant for Crystal Valley Cooperative in southern Minnesota. At my current job, I enjoy helping producers to better manage their soils with variable rate technology to maximize fertility and seed acre by acre. My husband Colin and I are utilizing what we have learned and are passionate about — trying to practice the five principals of soil health on our field each year.
Our world is evolving each day, and we know that we cannot continue to do the same thing year after year with our land. We need to care for it like the living organism it is! Our duty as young producers is to educate others and focus on improving what we have underneath our feet while still making a profit on each acre. One thing I think the Coalition should aspire to is providing a network for soil health enthusiasts to interact and share experiences. I am extremely excited to see what the Soil Health Coalition can do for producers across South Dakota.
