2022 Drought Meeting – Chamberlain

SDSU Extension will host a drought meeting for south central South Dakota ranchers and farmers on Thursday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to noon CT at the AmericInn by Wyndham Conference Center in Chamberlain (1981 E. King St., Chamberlain, S.D. 57325).

There is no cost to attend the meeting and no pre-registration required. Quick water tests for livestock suitability will be available on-site. Please bring water samples in clean, enclosed containers (e.g. water bottle, jelly jar, etc.).

  • 9:05 a.m. – Weather and Climate Update, presented by Laura Edwards, SDSU Extension State Climatologist
  • 9:40 a.m. – Management Changes, presented by Heather Gessner, SDSU Extension Livestock Business Management Field Specialist.
  • 10:25 a.m. – Grazing Loss Estimates, presented by Adele Harty, SDSU Extension Cow/Calf Field Specialist
  • 11 a.m. – Water Testing, performed by Robin Salverson, SDSU Extension Cow/Calf Field Specialist
  • 11:30 a.m. – USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Drought Disaster Programs
  • 12 p.m. – Close.
