The benefits of small grains in crop rotations is the focus of the 24th Annual Field Day to be held June 19 at the Eastern South Dakota Soil and Water Research Farm in Brookings (3714 Western Avenue).
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Tours begin at 10 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Lunch is sponsored by Eastern South Dakota Soil and Water Research Farm, Inc.

-Producers exchange ideas and share their experiences related to how no-till and cover crops have changed their operations.
-"Stumbling Along" by Rick Bieber: Producer from Trail City, SD, runs a 600 cow/calf operation, has no-tilled for 30 years and has been using cover crops for 18 years.
-"Learning The Value of Soil Health" by Dan Forgey: Agronomy Manager for Cronin Farms near Gettysburg, SD, has 24 years of no-till experience and has been using cover crops for 12 years.
